Bienvenido, Baby... Almost!

When it comes to new babies, the saying "When it rains, it pours!" is usually true! It's rare we get just one newborn at a time. One arrives unexpectedly and then it's only a couple days or weeks later that we get another one or two. Last week, baby S. arrived, so we knew it wouldn't be long until another arrived...

This afternoon as soon as I arrived to the hogar, Tía Rosa told me that we'd been asked to take in a newborn boy but he was still in the hospital and not quite ready to leave just yet. She asked if we'd go visit him and find out how he was doing... Of course we immediately said yes and headed to the hospital.

We'd been told he had been brought to the hospital after being abandoned but had no other information about him. When we arrived to the hospital, the social worker told us that he'd been found in a taxi (Baby Angel all over again?) and was brought to the hospital. He's estimated to be 2-3 days old. He has no paperwork yet, so that means no name. Because he's receiving phototherapy, we weren't allowed in to see him, but they showed him to us through a window and the nurse went in to take a picture for us. She said they did lab work today and if the results come back normal, he should be released to us tomorrow.

Now comes the time to pick his name! We like Santiago (although the hogar has already had a Santiago) and Isaac. When we suggested Santiago to Tía Maria, she said that we need a new name that's never been used and jokingly suggested (the Spanish version of) Nebuchadnezzar. We better pick a name fast or he might get stuck with that one! Send us your suggestions!

How about Jonathan? It means Yaweh has given. Other forms include: Yonatán and Natán

Have we had a Manuel before? Or Emanuel?

Natanael meaning Gift from God

We've decided any name we've had before is out. Emanuel was suggested by another friend and so was Natanael... Both names we've never had! Personally, I really like Emanuel but it wasn't a favorite among others. For now, the winner seems to be Isaac. We've told his doctors/nurses/social worker at the hospital so now it's just a matter of them putting it on his paperwork! He should be released tomorrow.
