Deposito Diving

While we kept just a few kids this weekend, Lindsey and I decided it would be the perfect time to clean out our "deposito" (big storage closet) here at the Baby Home. Now, let me assure you, this task is not the faint of heart. We were sure we'd find all sorts of creepy crawlies and rats… Although we found many dead bugs, rats were no where to be seen!

As the majority of the deposito includes bags of donated clothes, we decided our first step would be to take all of the bags out. As you can see from the pictures, the bags of clothes were several layers deep and covered literally every square inch of the floor. To reach the clothes at the top of the shelves or the big bins on top of the shelves, you have to climb up the bags of clothes. We carried all of the bags inside to the foyer so we could begin sorting through the clothes. I made the mistake of not photographing this step…

We ended up sorting the clothes in the dining room as it has the most space. We sorted them into keep (either return to deposito or send upstairs for use right now… to be into those groups later), donate, or trash.

After going through all of those clothes, we hung out in the deposito to sort the clothing that was on the shelf. That clothing was mainly decent stuff that we wanted to keep… It just required some folding. By that point, we were SO TIRED of the deposito and wondering if it was really worth it to keep organizing. However, we knew that there was no going back! We'd done too much to stop now.

We started organizing on Saturday night and knew we had to be done by Monday morning as all of the kids and tías would be returning. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. Take a look at some before and after pictures…
