N. meets her mom!

We had a very exciting morning at the baby house today because N. met her adoptive mother! We have been waiting for this day for so long. Although she has lived at the baby house since she was a newborn, her adoption paperwork wasn't started until later due to many different circumstances. I was so happy to hear that it was completed not long after her second birthday meaning she still had almost a full year until she turned three years old and it becomes harder to place children. We were thrilled to hear she had been assigned a family!

Her new mom is from Venezuela but works in (the department of) Beni, Bolivia. We weren't sure how N. would react to meeting her as she is usually very weary of strangers. To our surprise, she has done quite well! We did expect her to like having so much one-on-one attention, and she does. Her new mom is quite smitten with her as well!

Before their first meeting, I gave her a bath, and then we went outside to take some pictures. She was prancing around the yard like a little teenager. It was too cute!

When it was time for N. to meet her mom, she was nervous but didn't cry like we thought she might (that came later!). Her mom brought her a little stuffed bear that says "Te amo!" ("I love you!"), and N. thought it was hilarious. They spent the rest of the day getting to know each other.
