An aguayo is essentially a large square of fabric that can be folded different ways to carry different things. In Bolivia, women use aguayos to carry everything from groceries to babies. I bought an aguayo in La Cancha the day before "my" newborn arrived, but I bought it more as a souvenir and didn't really plan to use it.
Although we have a variety of baby slings at the baby house, none of them really work for a tiny newborn, so the aguayo has been put to use a lot this past week!
The toddlers also love to carry their baby dolls around in aguayos! They look too cute!
